Getting drier!! We could definitely use some liquid. Mother
Nature - help us out! Look for streams and even the bigger waters
to be at wade friendly flows, albeit a little clear. Barring
any significant rain - opening day conditions should be some
of the most benign seen in years.

Penns Creek
Weekend Package Year after year - late-April
is when we traditionally get into some of our
larger fish. No doubt this might have to do with
our deep-water nymphing techniques, as waters
tend to run brisk at that time of year. What will
this year bring...time will tell, but if this
weather trend continues the dry fly might get
a bit more of a workout this year. Shoot us an
email
if you want to take advantage of this phenomenal
fishery.

15, 2006 - NJ Warmwater
Pickeral, largemouths, crappies, perch
and gills were the name of the game this past weekend
as we changed things up and headed east for some warmwater
action. The day started bigtime wet with heavy downppours,
but by the time we were ready to lauch the kayaks the
dampness had begun to lift...you know what they say -
rain before seven, clear by eleven.
Nice size fly rod pick. Gotta be
careful with these toothy critters!
|
A nicely darkened up early spring
bass.
Lots of fun on a five weight
|
Just about everything ate a simple cork popper.
Some of the visuals were great - especially when
the pickeral would slash through the water after
the surface fly. The panfish would just suck it
in. We never knew what we were going to get next.
Make sure you check out our package
trips.

We got into a handful of these.

14, 2006 - Francis E Walter Update
The Corps has started to fill Francis
E Walter. The plan is to take the lake up to 1,365' above
sea level and have that level in place May 1. There should
really be no problem in pulling off. Also of note is all
water is being pushed through the 1,297' by-pass valves.
This means very little water is being pulled from 1,250'
to 1,297'. Hopefully this will capture the coldest water
and extend the 'life' of it when we truely need it - summer.
All in all, this year should be very interesting to watch
and see how the release temps flucuate.
Note: For reference...On May 1 the
FEW should be approximately 115' deep. This is more than
double the depth of the deepest point at Blue Marsh, meanwhile
Beltzville is 140' deep. Learn more

All waters are running lower than normal and relatively clear.
The smallest of water are so clear that the slightest water
spray from a false cast will send'em motoring. However the bigger
waters are running at a really nice level. The Lehigh is between
800-850cfs...at the Lehighton gage as of writing. This is a
great fishing level! It is going to be really tempting - if
we get some springlike air temps - to uncover the Clack and
check out the river.
